German solar company Conergy has signed a contract with Pakistan to build a huge solar farm in the Asian country, as the Hamburg-based company announced on Monday. According to Christine Lauber, further development of renewable energy in Germany will no longer be encouraged in the future to the same extent by the EEG aid scheme, but will be based mainly on PPP contracts. “Investors can use the AAE instrument to partially hedge their risks for new wind and solar farms, and customers have direct and long-term access to green electricity. In this way, they can contribute directly to the development of renewable energy,” said Mr. Lauber. A POWER Purchase Agreement is a legal contract between an electricity producer (supplier) and an electricity buyer (buyer, usually an electricity supplier or a large electricity buyer/distributor). Contractual terms can take between 5 and 20 years during which the buyer buys energy and sometimes also capacity and/or ancillary services from the electricity producer. These agreements play a key role in financing assets of own property producing electricity (i.e. not held by a utility company). The seller under the AAE is usually an independent electricity producer or a “PPI.” A new form of PPP has recently been proposed to commercialize electric vehicle charging stations through a bilateral form of electricity purchase contract. November 20 (Renewables Now) – Deutsche Bahn AG (DB) on Thursday announced contracts to purchase electricity (PPAs) for 780 GWh of green electricity from hydro, solar and offshore wind farms. The company has already signed several CPPAs in the European market, including with Microsoft in the Netherlands, Norsk Hydro in Sweden and recently AG Barr in the UK, making it one of the leading suppliers of CPPA in Europe.
About Power – Air Solutions Power – Air Solutions was founded in 2004 and is a wholly-based subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom AG. The Munich-based company`s mission is to ensure the availability of critical infrastructure systems in the field of information technology and telecommunications (ITC). In addition, Power-Air Solutions is the energy supplier to Deutsche Telekom AG in Germany and preferably buys electricity and electricity from renewable energy sources. Vattenfall and Power-Air Solutions, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, have signed a 10-year Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (CPPA). Renewable electricity and electricity come from a new solar farm built by the customer in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in mid-2021. The facility will have an installed capacity of 60 megawatts (MW). For Vattenfall, the solar surge in Germany follows the launch last June of the first increase in the green bond, during which 500 million euros (US$542 million) was spent on investments in renewable energy projects. Continuing our Solar Glossary series, we conclude the third part: Terms related to financing, contracts and purchase of solar installations. These wouldn`t be as exciting as a brand new solar system and storage on your home, but these are some of the most important terms you need to know before you go to solar power.
